Beautifully Imperfect.: June 2006

My head hurts. My nose hurts. My throat hurts.

Everything bloody hurts.

I was supposed to go watch the Germany vs. Sweden match on Saturday night at the mamak, but had to FFK, since my head was hurting and I started coughing like a mad cow. I know mad cow's don't cough (or do they?), but it's just a figure of speech, okay? So sue me.

Back to the mad cow coughing.

As if it wasn't bad enough that I was burning up inside, but feeling damn cold on the outside; every single time I coughed (which was every other thirty seconds), a little migraine unleashed itself inside my mind.

I seriously don't remember being this sick in ages.

The whole of Sunday morning was a daze. I didn't go to church because I couldn't even get out of bed, let alone into the car and to church. Not forgetting, it wouldn't be all that great, if I polluted an entire church with my cough cough sneeze sneeze germs.

I went to sleep at 8-something last night after porridge for dinner, and woke up every hour or so, after that. I slept huddled up, on my side, on my front, sitting up, and in every imaginable way possible.

I must have swallowed an entire packet of panadols.

Around 10-something, my phone buzzed-

Pek Wah: eh, babe! wanna go watch the england match at Murni's later?

It took me forever to type a reply to her. I blame it on the fever. Six (unsuccessful) tries later, I finally managed to type a coherent message, sent it, and promptly flopped back on my stomach to go back to sleep.

I remember waking up to answer nature's call, and I saw that the score was 0-0. Bloody heck it. Anyone else notice how I've become a foul-mouthed sailor during footie matches?

Went back to sleep and was woken up again by the dear phone, this time from Nick.

Nick: Oi, never watch the match ar?

Me: Sick la.

Nick: Beckham scored weih! Free-kick! 1-o!

Me: Yay.

Nick: How can you never watch?

Me: Sick la.

Nick: I just finish screaming only you know!

Me: Tomorrow I watch repeat. Zzz.

I tell you, it's really no wonder that my mum says my fever is of the football fever kind.

But anyway, sleeping in all those different positions must have helped, one way or another, because I woke up feeling a lot better this morning. Or rather, well enough to watch the entire 93 minutes of the repeat, and to attempt downloading the first episode of Veronica Mars.

I'm not a Beckham fan by any means, but I'm so glad he scored and saved England's asses. And horror of all horrors, Peter Crouch didn't play at all? Am I seeing things, or is Sven finally wisening up? Whatever. I'm not complaining. The lesser I see of that guy, the better. Is it even right to be so abnormally tall and irritating-looking at the same time?

On a side note- For the amount of shots Lampard has had during this entire WC, he should have scored a few hattricks, and more. Sigh. He needs to break that duck, he really does.

And when is my Gary Neville coming back? I'm emo. His calf needs to heal miraculously, and he needs to play, seriously. I can only take so much of other people playing in the right-back spot when they actually CAN'T.

England vs. Portugal next, so I'm keeping all fingers, toes, and eyes crossed till then. Okay, so I can't really cross my eyes, but you catch my drift, no?

Panadols await, so till then.

So, does anyone else think it's weird that I don't blog as much when I'm on holidays? Blame it on the entire holiday inertia-like mood I suppose.

We went to Genting over the past weekend, and it was a bunch of mad, laugh out loud fun. It always is because the company's good.

The World Cup is seriously messing with me, hah. I'm completely zoned out from watching those pesky 3 a.m. matches. My sleeping hours are all screwed up.

Because I promised Nick I'd blog at least two lines about him, and he says that I've never said anything nice about him on this blog (Heh, he terasa-lah), I dutifully shall against my will.

Went to watch the England vs. Sweden match at the Banana Leaf at Centrepoint, thanks to Nicholas Chan Xeng Hui, who so very galiantly fetched the three of us, and waited oh-so-patiently at the red light despite the lack of cars at 2 in the morning and us egging him on to cut it, or else we would've been caught at the road block, and 50 bucks poorer. So, Nick, my faithful Man Utd and England buddy, you are TEH man. Loud and clear. Just stop laughing at Gary Neville and you'll be even more TEH man. Good deal, no?

Bloody Banana Leaf charged us each 80 cents to watch football there. What in the bleeeeeeping world. Have to say, however, atmosphere there is great. I'm convinced 60% of Malaysians support England, due to EPL and all that. Only three or four people, out of hundred over, were cheering when Sweden scored. Our dear Siokkwan was one of them.

The next day- my dad and I were discussing the match when suddenly...

Daddy: You got watch meh? You were sleeping wat.

Me: (Die!) Errrr, I- I- got watch wat.

Daddy: Where you watch? (I swear, parents have some lie detector radar-thingy.)

Me: *meekly* Mamak.

Daddy: Big girl already lah, go out no need to tell me anymore lah. Tsk tsk.

Me: You lock the room door already mah. So where to watch? Go out lorrrrr. *makes puppy dog eyes at dad*

Daddy: Aih. Just be careful, okay.

Me: *phew* Okay.

... So the next day, I actually didn't have to sneak out, but I WALKED out of the house and went to watch the Argentina vs. Holland match the next day, courtesy of Sat's drivable Proton Wira after much persuasion. Bad, bad choice. You hear Argentina, and you hear Holland, and you immediately think, 'wah, damn good match', right? Bollocks, I tell you. Damn boring. It was Jo's first time watching, and sigh, we brought him to the wrong match. Sorry, Jo. But well, props to Sat for willing to come get all of us, even after us telling him to walk. :D

Well at least my dad's cool about it. Power of the World Cup I suppose. Better think of all the other things I want to get away with before the World Cup ends. Only once every four years.

Spent last night in Bangsar with Manda, Sharmo, Sioki, MFong, and a bunch of Manda's college friends. Haven't had a night out like that in ages, so it was pretty good fun. Castle's always fun, because I don't have to pay a bloody cent. Pays to be a girl sometimes. No cover charge and free drinks till 1.

The weirdest thing was, the club got short-circuited. Weirdest thing ever. They were playing Shakira so obviously everyone was on the dance floor, and the lights went out and the music died. They started it up again, and it died. And again, and again, and again. We heard the opening bars of Hips Don't Lie for eight times, I think. :D Talk about overkill. I don't want to hear it again.

I heart girls night outs. Crazy laughter, loadsa dancing, guy spotting, and the bitching in the car on the way back about the creepy dudes, hee. Big thanks to Amanda for driving.
