Today the darling Joel Tan Liang Shien turns 9. He comes out with all sorts of "yo yo wassup dude"-s and can actually carry a conversation about RPGs and CODs (No, not the xoxo.chic kind of COD) with Edward kor kor. He's growing up so fast!
Nine. That's old in little boy terms. Nine's like... major, when you're a kid. It's one year short of ten, when you can finally hold out all fingers when people ask you how old you are. I remember wanting to be 10, like really badly when I was a little girl.
It also means that I've been an aunt for nine years. (Yes lah laugh all you want. Lol.)
There's usually six noisy kids running around my house. If you're a guy you'll get coerced into giving non-stop piggy backs.
Six. And there's a little girl on the way. Ka Che is 32 weeks along her pregnancy and there are complications. The water level in the womb is much lower than the average level and if it doesn't go up within the next four weeks, they will have to operate. She will be premature, underweight and have a 50% chance of survival. They've went for two opinions and will be seeing a third specialist on Tuesday and nobody really know what to do. There's nothing we can do but be strong and pray.
It's hard to see my sister look so down.
My thoughts are all over the place. I guess I'd better go.
Lord, please look over my sister, Kelvin and the family and keep both mother and child healthy, safe and sound.

(Exams are finally over and Wendy Tan is a happy wtf very very very busy girl. But of course, it's a good kind of busy to occupy herself before she starts panicking about results in a week's time. Okay okay, I'll shut up now.)
It's been pouring and pouring and pouring. I vaguely remember loving the sound of rain pattering on my windows and the whole house just being dark. And then I'd go snuggle up on the sofa surrounded by pillows and daydream. Now, it's not that it's any less therapeutic, just that as you get older, realism seeps into some of those little vices.
Rain... it's still therapeutic, but not when it hinders bright and sunny afternoons perfect for shoplog photo-taking, not when it gets so heavy that I can barely see the road when I'm behind the wheel, and most definitely not when lightning fries up my modem. Which happens quite a lot, and it really annoys me to no end.
Mary was over for our usual photo routine but of course, this time the kids are all on school holidays which means we get an additional four rambunctious kids running around and hovering over us. I go upstairs to grab my camera and come down to Joel looking like this. So obviously, we had to get Josh in it too and voila! Two very glammed up, Jedi-gone-satin-looking kids.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Obviously they had to have the lightsabre in there too. They're not the floral satin Jedis for nothing, you know. Heh.

Yes, yes, I know. I'm a really boring blogger. There's a lot of things I want to jot down; end of exams, almost the whole world getting older in November, upcoming stuff, my fears of what's to come after this. I don't foresee any of those getting done. Heh.
I don't try to write for people. I don't try to think up interesting posts. I blog on a very superficial surface level; hence, there's really not much juicy stuff if you're looking for insight on me. For the friends over-the-seas who are looking to my blog for a form of update on my life, you really won't be getting anything at all. Maybe I just don't write with the same fluidity that I used to after three years of slogging through Accounting and Finance numbers. I whole-heartedly blame Monash for torturing me like that. Or maybe I'm just getting boring. At twenty! Geez.
On a different note, ABBA songs have been ringing and ringing... AND RINGING in my head for the past two days or so. I completely blame Mamma Mia!. (Okay, Drew, I'm sorry for all the shit I gave you about liking it so much because...oh well, it's ABBA and it's freaking catchy. Aiya, but you forgive me right. Hee.)
Of course, the strangest part is seeing Pierce Brosnan in a shiny, glittery jumpsuit...thing that looks like it has been painted on with a neckline reminiscient of J.Lo's plunging green Versace dress from many years ago. And ooh boy, when he opens his mouth to sing? Let's just say rewatching Bond movies will never be the same again. Much like how the vision of a padded-up singing John Travolta in Hairspray will always stay with me.
So, I came back and gave my Ares a good workout, downloading all the ABBA songs I could find. Happy-fying music. The older sister-in-law came into my room late that night while they were on repeat and gave me a funny look. "Errr Wen, why are you so old-skool tonight?", she asked. Heh.
But then of course, I told her why and then we spent the next five minutes talking about the movie and merry ABBA songs. She says I'm born in the wrong generation. -_-"
"Gimme gimme gimme, a man after midnight!" *sings*
Yes, and guy friends can just stop offering themselves to me after midnight on MSN now thanks. It's ABBA lyrics! HAHAHAHA.
*
And on a side note, Bethany Joy Galeotti (also known as Haley on One Tree Hill) really has one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard. I've always thought so, but I just have to say it out loud because it's amazing. Sucks that she got dropped by her record company; I'm guessing it's because she's not commercial enough. Thankfully, the producers of OTH are letting her sing so much this season.
I don't know why I'm keeping up with OTH while abandoning all my other series. I'm way behind in Heroes and Grey's and what not. But not with OTH. Comfort zone, I reckon. Strange, isn't it?

Auditing and Assurance paper is tomorrow morning with Treasury Management the afternoon after, I am stressed, tired, pimply and all of a sudden I have an inexplicable urge to... bake cookies. Ehhh. I know I usually have random cravings but baking cookies the day before exams is not going to get fulfilled. (Along with my urge to eat plain toasted bread at 1 a.m. this morning -_-).
Something tells me I'm going to be very mafan with heightened cravings when I'm pregnant next time. Lol.
6 days to go, 3 papers. Zzzzz. I CANNOT WAIT. Birthdays! Shopping! xoxo.chic! People from Australia coming home! My social life back! Beauty sleep! Many many episodes of One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and TVB to catch up on! More shopping!Being broke! Quality family and friend time! Lazing around doing absolutely nothing and not feel guilty! Job search! Karaoke! Christmas yeayyy!
Omg I should shoot myself right now.

Accounting Theory paper is tomorrow afternoon. 1:30pm. I is scared. And stressed.
What if my mind blanks and nothing about current cost accounting and continuously contemporary accounting and critical theories and normative conceptual frameworks and paradigm shifts can come out? Omg wtf I'm scaring myself now.
Joel boy just came up to my room and hugged me sweetly and the kid will be a hit with the ladies in the future, I tell you.
Me: Bathed yet boy?
Joel: Nope, I just came home and purposely came upstairs juuuuuuuust to give you a hug. Study hard okay Wen Kor?
It's amazing how an eight year old kid can make me feel so loved.
This time tomorrow, one ghastly paper will be down. And I will be having the weekly dinner of the week with the sisters. Who shower me with soothing sms-es telling me not to be stressed. And who know exactly when I'm being nice or masking my tulan-ness with niceties. :) Heh.
Ahhhh okay back to work. PC off. Pfft.
p/s: Ooh new Taylor Swift songs won't get out of my head. Yesterday it was Love Story. Today it's Fearless.
"...and I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress; fearless."

Weekends are such lazy, lounging around days meant to be for doing absolutely nothing. Saturday mornings, when I'm not down in town braving the heat and glam plastic bags at the suppliers, are the mornings spent with the entire family, less the kids who are at badminton and taekwondo lessons at school. It's nice to have this time spent with them because for the past week I have been a recluse in the Monash library. 9am to 5pm. God, it's almost like a day job.
The phone finally got fixed so obviously I have to make use of its functions again, right. (Oh and btw, all my contacts got wiped away so I don't know who most of you are when you text. Send me your hp numbers over MSN pretty please? :)) Camera phones come in handy when you need to release stress during library cramming sessions.

My side of the table with audit textbook and my many highlighters which Siokkwan always wants to steal. Give you after I graduate lah sister. :P
Bryan and Josh then proceeded to release more stress by punching each other. And yes, I mean really, really, really, REALLY punch. You can actually hear quite a loud bishhhh sound when one of their fists connects with the other's arm. Plus they have to keep silent and not yelp in pain because obviously, we're in a library.
There's this obscene pic of Bryan reeling in pain from Josh's punch but because I don't wanna ruin his chances with whoever is still reading my blog I shall not post it because I'm nice like that. And because he will probably kill me. I put it as my caller ID for him but he switched it back to this one.
Michelle: Why do you have an umbrella with you?!
Bryan: ...because it was raining! -___-"
LOL.
Dinner with everyone later at Pyramid and it was one of the rare moments when everyone actually paid their share in exact change. No shit.
LOL and I was looking through my old phone pictures and found this one of some of the ping pong guys in MUSA lounge. Adam is obviously not doing any work of academic nature, hah.
So that was how last week was spent, mostly. Cramming, toilet breaks, whispering (which I realise gets above an obnoxious level sometimes - but still we can't possibly be as loud as the three girls in front of us that other day who started cam-whoring with their digital camera and a FREAKING TRIPOD -__-" And giggling after every pic. Confirm first year students. They made us feel very old, lol.), discussing audit and treasury, and then enduring LDP jam home because it's been raining every freaking evening. :(
Saturday morning was a nice change in pace. Like I said, the entire family was around. Both the brothers fiddled around with the computer to make the Internet faster, helped me figure out how to load videos onto the iPod (YAY!) and started streaming Youtube videos. Sister-in-law wanted to watch Britney's Womanizer video (which btw, she's damn hot again right) so we sat around streaming videos on Youtube after that. Random things to do, I know. But oh-so comforting.

Future scholar, hee. And right after the pic, he proceeded to try to put the trophy into his mouth. Sheesh, boy. Lol.
The rest of the day was spent loading videos onto my iPod now that I know how to do it and sending text messages back and forth with the best friend all the way in Melbourne about how we're not studying. Heh.
More family time spent at night at the sister's house after dinner at the family's favourite crab restaurant. I swear the crabs there are so good that I always forget to take a picture and before I know it it's completely wiped out.

Dad said I look like I'm going back to school. -_-"
Overdressed for crab place but I'm not happy when something sits so long in my wardrobe without being worn. Lol. And besides, all the more reason to dress up because I look very exam-mode all week long. Ugh. Bad hair days, pimples, clothes simply thrown on, eyebags size of Texas, very pucat face. Really, I look damn scary. Tsk. But, I really don't know how some girls can come to the library studying but looking like they're on a fashion runway. Guess that's Monash for you.

HAHAHAHAHHA. I just have to look at Joshua's expression and I immediately crack up.
(Psst, for those of you who didn't know, Joshua's the one at the bottom. Also known as the most talented kid in the family with funny faces.)

Jayden, on the other hand, only has a limited expression repertoire. Blur, or blur-er. Classic.
Poor boy then got dressed up...
Poor boy then got dressed up...
Poor boy; as if its not enough he has to deal with a pink pacifier. Lol.
And then everyone decided to play with the frames on my phone. To those people who say it doesn't take much to amuse me, IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY OKAYYY! As you can see.
